Get your mates together

Instead of missing out on a great event, Peter Hewson and his sailing mates have come up with a successful formula for getting to events and having fun.

They simply band together each year, decide which boat to take north and then pack their party shirts in readiness for Airlie race week.

“No one has any crew anymore. It’s probably the same everywhere. Everyone is struggling for crew for a 40-foot boat so to give other people the opportunity to have a go in the race week we have been getting our crew together and jumping on other boats.

New multis in Australian Championship

Airlie Race Week event organisers are expecting a fleet of more than 30 boats for this year’s Multihull Australian Championship.

The championship is being held as part of the 24th annual Airlie Beach Race week being run from 9th to 16th August 2013.

100 days until race week

With exactly 100 days until Airlie Beach Race Week, Whitsunday Sailing Club has begun the official countdown to the biggest event on its sailing calendar.

With the milestone moment on Wednesday, May 1, the sailing club is now in full-preparation to ensure the 24th annual Airlie Beach Race Week is a stand out event for competitors and spectators.

Running from August 9 to 16, race week will feature an exciting list of onshore activities as well competitive racing on the water.
